Brain surgery for weight loss? There must be an alternative.

Doh…Thank God, there is.

On Oprah’s most recent show, Dr. Oz explains a new experimental weight loss surgery that basically consists of cutting holes in the skull and then inserting probes into the brain, to control the area of the brain responsible for hunger and cravings. Next, ‘regulating devices,’ similar to pacemakers, are implanted into the patients chest. The doctors say the implants monitor electrical currents that control food cravings and feelings of fullness or satisfaction.

The patient featured on Oprah’s show, who recently underwent this new procedure, is only the second person ever to have it done.

Her plight is very familiar to most chronically overweight and obese people. “I’ve tried everything else,” she says. She’s tried dieting, exercising, even stomach stapling and gastric bypass surgery in an attempt to reach a healthy weight…but nothing has worked. An all too familiar story, unfortunately.

If you read the article, the surgeon who performed the surgery, Dr. Don Whiting talked about how they go into the brain, “We’re actually going to the control center, we think, to adjust things in a different way.”

WE THINK???

Back to the patient…

“I really believe that it’s got something to do with the brain,” she says.

Now……..the first thing I thought of when I heard her statement was, “Was this an original idea from her or was it suggested to her?”

Just a thought.

I’ve helped a lot of weight loss patients and can’t remember anyone saying, “I think it has something to do with my brain.”

BUT…she may be right…

Shes goes on to say, “I’ve always known in my heart that there had to be something else.” This is a very familiar statement to me. Usually it arises after numerous, diets, exercise programs, weight loss supplements, and prescription diet pills that simply do not work for that individual.

Many people are exhaustively told, “just eat less and exercise more.”

And although that statement is true in principle, will power alone will not overcome a hormonally imbalanced body. For those of you who don’t have a weight problem this may sound contrary but just eating less and exercising more may be savvy advice that is set up to fail for that person. Especially if the brain isn’t receiving and sending the proper hormonal signals.

I’ve seen countless people try to do ‘what’s right’ yet still lose the war with being overweight. So this patient may be dead-on correct when she says, ‘there has to be something else.’ There’s got to be a better way. Brain surgery for weight loss? I’m opened minded but what’s next… decapitation for headaches?

The proponents to this new ‘surgical solution’ optimistically suggest, “what if there was a medical solution that could put an end to yo-yo dieting, food cravings and calorie counting.” Valid question, right?

Dr. Oz declared on the show, “If you put a probe in there and put electricity through it, you can stimulate that part of the brain so you no longer get hungry.”

The brain does, in fact, have a region of the brain, the hypothalamus, that links the nervous system to the endocrine system and has a big ‘say-so’ in whether your body craves food or not.

But, what if you could accomplish the same exact thing that this new scientific breakthrough brain surgery does and save yourself a few holes in your head?

Since Oprah was the first to break this story, let me be the second to break the really exciting news about the brain and significant weight loss when all else has failed.

Introducing….

“The Brain Surgery Alternative To Effectively Controlling Hunger and Obtaining Safe and Significant Weight Loss…. Through the Brain….Without a Drill”

The tool is not a drill… but a hormone. Leptin.

Leptin is a recently discovered hormone that directs signaling to the brain to control eating and induce satiety (sense of fullness). This protein hormone Leptin is encoded by the obesity (ob) gene. And in the last several years it has repeatedly been identified in published research as one of the primary modulators of body weight and metabolism. Sounds like a miracle drug, right?

But that’s not all. Leptin also disposes of cellular fat by up-regulating thermogenesis (fat burning) and metabolic rate. Once leptin reaches the brain (in the hypothalamus) it mediates weight loss by decreasing hunger and food consumption, and increasing energy expenditure, which then results in a loss of adipose or fat tissue mass and an increase in lean muscle mass.

And isn’t that what we are all so heatedly pursuing? Now, here’s the bad news…

Clinical findings show that the vast majority of overweight people have elevated levels of leptin due to “leptin resistance.” So although leptin sounds like a ‘miracle,’ if the brain becomes resistant to its signals, those powers are all for nothing.

When brain levels of leptin are low due to “leptin resistance” – even if there are high circulating blood levels of leptin – food cravings and weight gain occur because the body believes that it is hungry and goes into a state of continued fat storage.

AH HA!

Isn’t that the plight of this patient who had experimental brain surgery? Remember…she tried exercising, she tried dieting, she even had other forms of surgery… all to no avail?

Let’s revisit this science again…

When leptin cannot reach the brain, because it cannot cross the blood brain barrier,

“food cravings and weight gain occur because the body believes it is hungry and goes into a state of continuous fat storage!”

Leptin acts within the brain’s hypothalamic centers once it crosses the blood brain barrier. But in “leptin resistance,” it can’t effectively get to that part of the brain to perform its “weight management magic.” But here is the groundbreaking science that gives people like this, hope.

Recent studies have shown that an increase of a certain protein, Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 1 b, or (PTP1B), is the key to unlocking the door to let leptin reach the centers in the brain that not only control hunger but burn fat!

By reversing “leptin resistance,” through the blocking of PTP1 B, the function of the protein hormone leptin is restored so that the hypothalamic center can normally and effectively modulate body weight and metabolism.

And it can be done naturally, if you know what I’m about to tell you. It’s a mouthful but it may be THE KEY to possibly unlocking the secrets of true weight loss and management like nothing before.

Here is the key…..published studies demonstrate that the all-natural, botanically derived phytochemical, Isoquinoline Alkaloid Berberine, specifically and potently inhibits human Protein Tyrosine Phosphatase 1B (PTP1 B).

What does this mean to you? It’s the key to unprecedented weight loss and maybe an appearance on Oprah!

Yes, this is brand new.

Yes, this is cutting edge.

Yes, it’s like rocket science… but it’s not brain surgery. Somebody please tell Oprah.

There is currently one place in the world to get this ‘key’ to unlock your body’s inherent ability to lose weight….www.GoGetThin.com

"Leptin Resistance" is extremely similar in nature to "Insulin Resistance" and although most people are completely unaware that they even have this hormonal dysfunction, it is extremely common.

Is it difficult to suppress tears when you look in the mirror? Do you shun shopping for new clothes because you can’t bear the thought of needing a larger size than last year? Are you sick and tired of your thyroid medication not doing its job?

Male or female, we all want to look our best and feel healthy. A woman’s weight is closely tied with her self-image. She’s been trained by the media and society to be pretty, nice, and thin. And when she’s not thin or at her ideal weight, it’s more difficult to be pretty in her own mind.

You’ve been waiting for years for science to solve the obesity problem. You’ve had enough of diets that don’t work and gave up hope you can eat anything since every calorie seems to multiply itself by a factor of 5. And you’ve had it with food cravings that keep your mind focused on food all day long.

Why has your body turned against you? Where is your answer?

With all the thousands of research studies published each year, isn’t it possible that there is an answer somewhere? Maybe…

Newly Discovered Hormone Affects Your Weight

The hormone leptin itself was just recently discovered. When it was, it was viewed as the ‘new frontier’ of weight loss. Why? Well, it may have something to do with the fact that two of its most influential effects are on controlling cravings and burning body fat. But as the science advanced we learned that due to a number of factors, mainly overeating and eating too much of the wrongs foods, people who were chronically over weight and obese were resistant to leptin’s powerful effects. That reason is now known as “Leptin Resistance.”

The truth is that leptin is exceptionally crucial to your body to function optimally. The hormone has a hand in controlling the two most important factors in weight control; food intake and fat storage. But also sexual development, immunity, GI function, reproduction, the nervous system during stressful times, brain function and red blood cell production.

“Leptin Resistance” is extremely similar in nature to “Insulin Resistance” and although most people are completely unaware that they even have this hormonal dysfunction, it is extremely common. “Leptin Resistance” occurs when the body is no longer efficient at carrying Leptin across the blood-brain barrier to the brain, specifically the hypothalamus. In order for Leptin to perform it’s ‘weight loss magic’ to control your body weight and metabolism, it has to do so from the hypothalamic centers in the brain. When brain levels of Leptin are low because the brain never ‘hears’ or ‘receives’ it due to “Leptin Resistance” - food cravings and weight gain occur because the body believes that it is hungry and will daily go into a state of persistent fat storage.

“NORMAL BRAIN LEVELS OF LEPTIN ARE ABSOLUTELY VITAL IF YOU WANT TO CONTROL YOUR BODY WEIGHT AND METABOLISM”

The Research Proves It

By restoring leptin sensitivity, weight may come off like never before and food cravings can be subdued. You may can lose weight safely, and that’s not all: thyroid function can improve.

In a study reported in the New England Journal of Medicine in February of 2009, when calories were restricted 40% for 25 days, significantly reduced leptin, thyroid hormones and increased corticosteroid levels resulted. Leptin replacement for the last 10 days of the study normalized the leptin and TSH levels.

In a University of Miami study reported in August 2008, leptin replacement in a 5-year-old morbidly obese boy with leptin gene mutation resulted in substantial increases in the rates of brain development with some skills increasing more than what was expected for his age. High blood pressure reversed totally as did high levels of insulin and fat abnormalities.

In another case study, a female with type 2 diabetes treated with leptin replacement decreased her insulin resistance and lost weight.

Scientists have found that overweight individuals can have leptin resistance. In fact, researchers at Harvard, in the journal Developmental Cell, say that “Almost all forms of obesity are leptin-resistant ….” Leptin resistance is similar to insulin resistance and results in health problems that can contribute to diabetes and lead to diabetes medication.

If you have been chronically over weight or obese, chances are there has been a strong reason why you haven’t been able to lose weight. Most likely, you are suffering from leptin resistance. Let’s chalk one up for science here, as this is a BIG discovery. People are now searching for ‘leptin supplements.’

What you need to do is increase your leptin signaling pathway. There is only one supplement I know of that does this, LepToThin™. When you improve leptin signaling, it’s truly natural weight loss.
