Thanks Dr. Ron: This was a great explanation about the link between sugar cravings and leptin resistance. I've only heard of the condition, I haven't studied it in depth enough to be able to explain it. How, then, does a sugar addicted person with leptin resistance begin to change eating habits? I've heard that amino acid supps can help to lessen cravings, is it true in this condition? ~LiveOnPurpose

Well I know why I had sugar cravings...I have a sugar sensitive biochemistry. Dr. Kathleen DesMaisons coined the term and put the scientific pieces of the puzzle together, discovering that some folks have abnormalities in their levels of beta endorphins, serotonin and volatile blood sugar, setting up these people for huge cravings. Bart Hoebel of Princeton and his team have also recently validated the same findings about sugar addiction being real. Since working DesMaisons' program to stabilize the three things I mentioned, I feel fantastic, and my cravings are gone along with a multitude of other symptoms I would have never guessed were related. You can check out her information at www.radiantrecovery.com or read one of her many books. I am grateful to be feeling well and not a slave to my sugar addiction after many years of hell and intermittent weight gain and loss.
