How right you are to bring this movie to everyone's attention. Sadly, there will be many who scoff and who will never do their own homework and learn. So many people, especially younger ones, have never known a natural food in their entire lives! I'm old enough to remember what life was like before corporate greed literally took over our dietary practices. I am horrified that I am unable to obtain the great foods that were available only 30 years ago, and especially 50 years ago. If you want to catch a microcosmic view of the changes very quickly, just watch rerun TV for a few days, especially the game show network, where they play the old shows from the 1950's on through to the 1970's. Just compare a few things with today's shows: 1. VERY few contestants or panelists were overweight. If anyone portly showed up, everyone commented on it. Today, that's grounds for a lawsuit. 2. Listen to the comments. "Green" was in, though no one called it that. People just naturally made their own clothes, foods, and many other items now obtainable only in a box, made cheaply by some company. 3. Watch the commercials and note that every other ad is for a drug, and everything in between is for "plastic" food. Folks, we are headed down a dangerous path.

I recently posted this comment on Facebook: "I really don't understand how a movie like, The Hangover, can be #1 two weeks in a row when there is a life changing, eye-opening documentary of our food industry playing. Thought provoking. I guess ignorance really is bliss..." Then I received the following response: "You think people really wanna pay to see reality when they go to the movies these days? C'mon, its not too difficult to understand that comedy/violence/sex/drugs will outsell any other movie out there." This comment followed by several others about how hilarious the movie was... not even bothering to address the reality of my comment.

Sometimes I feel like we are constantly preaching to our own choir. If people don't want to learn, how do we affect change?

By the way... saw the movie twice.

A great - must read book - 'The End of Overeating - Taking Control of the Insatiable American Appetite" by David A. Kessler, MD

Sounds like a diet book but it is not - it's must reading for anyone who eats! Lots of information about the engineering of food and marketing and how the food industry has us addicted. Fascinating stuff!

I remember when my son with Down's was trying to lose weight and his teacher showed Food Nation. Now he won't let my husband eat a hot dog and he says McDonalds will kill you. It really switched him. This awareness is especially needed for all who normally are not aware of this problem.

I personally would like to know WHY hydrogenated oil/s is bad for you along with corn syrup (people hear corn and think) good. Why have I been told corn is good for me? Is it? What's the deal with corn? It is in everything we eat right? Is it the carbs verses the fiber issue?

Why is sugar bad for you if you do not have blood sugar problems? Or blood pressure issues...What is the difference between Agave syrup, white sugar, sugar in the raw, fructose, lactose, corn syrup, isn't all the same once it is in your body? Sometimes isn't it OK to get a sugar high if you are going to burn it off anyway?

I'm not sure if you have already covered these questions...
